About Us
Toyota West has been family owned and operated for over 29 years. Owner, Joe Bertolami, grew up in Boston, where he had a humble beginning in the auto industry as a gas station attendant at the young age of fifteen. Later, Joe would join the military and upon being discharged, he would go to work as a service technician at a local Oldsmobile-Cadillac dealership. Over the course of the next 15 years, Joe would eventually become the General Sales Manager.
In 1976, Joe relocated to South Florida to continue his automotive career as a General Manager at one of the King organization’s dealerships, a multi-franchise corporation. In December of 1981, Joe purchased Toyota West in Statesville and has embraced North Carolina as his home ever since.
Over the years, Joe has built an impressive resume of accomplishments as the owner of Toyota West. Which include serving on the Regional Southeast Toyota Dealer Counsel for eight years and National Dealer Counsel for five years. Closer to home, Joe is a founding board member of Piedmont Bank and is involved in numerous charitable and civic organizations.
Toyota West’s employee base is comprised of a group of highly motivated individuals who possess a tremendous amount of Toyota experience. In fact, CFO, Rosie Adams, has worked at Toyota West for 37 years. Another long time employee is Body Shop Manager J. C. Eller, who has overseen that department for the past 20 years. Similar to service, parts and the body shop, Toyota West’s sales department has a tremendous Toyota management experience - a combined 67 years. This includes the General Sales Manager Todd Harkins, who has been with Toyota West since 2001. Todd has been in the automobile industry since 1993 and is a Master Certified Sales Manager. He also is a member of the Greater Statesville Rotary Club and was a 2 time All American Football Player at Western Carolina.
New to the Toyota West Team, is Director of Fixed Operations Chuck Robertson. He boasts 35 years of experience in the automobile industry and is a Toyota Certified Service Manager and an ASE Certified Technician. His experience and management skills are a great asset to the team at Toyota West.
